Breathe: Reset the Body & Mind was inspired by Ericka Huggins a Black Panther member who came to do a Mindfulness Workshop on Box Breathing in my Professional Drama Honors CTE class. She shared a story about her journey to mindfulness. She had asked for a book on Yoga and it had chapters on mindfulness breathing. She used this and it transformed her life when she was experiencing a life crisis. She taught it to my class and afterwards asked, “How do you feel?” I told her I felt like I was standing in the Berkeley Grizzly Peak Hills looking at nature and seeing Berkeley, Oakland, SanFrancisco, Albany, Richmond, and San Leandro. The box breathing calmed my mind, my body, and my spirit was at peace!

Mental Health: I also learned that mindfulness boosts focus and mood while decreasing anxiety. I learned how mindfulness breathing practice can transform your life. Deep breathing works to calm your nervous system and bring your body’s system back into balance. Deep breathing is like a reset button.
