A variety of digital toolkits include turn-key resources such as social media sharables, email templates outreach materials, and videos to celebrate Mental Health Matters Month in May, Suicide Prevention Week in September, and more.
Youth-produced PSAs, art and written works can be used to raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention, and to start conversations in families, schools, and communities about these important topics. Share these as part of trainings, presentations, on your website, on social media, or even in local movie theatres or on TV!
Over 3000 Students Reached During Mental Health Spirit Day!
Students at John Sutter Middle School in Fresno County were one of several groups that participated in Mental Health Spirit Day. They shared the following message: “We stand in solidarity with cities and counties across California to stop the stigma surrounding mental health. We believe we can help unite our community members with a shared vision of improved mental health and equality. Remember, you matter, you are loved, and you are worthy!“
Student Created PSAs Shown on the Big Screen in LA!
In May and June 2023, a media campaign funded by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health delivered over 39 million impressions to young people with youth-created PSAs that played in movie theaters and online throughout Los Angeles County. PSAs about mental health and suicide prevention crated as part of the Directing Change Film Contest were seen during opening showings of Guardians of the Galaxy, Spiderman Across the Spiderverse, The Super Mario Bros Movie, and the Little Mermaid.
