Two close friends are meant to be studying together at one’s house, casually connecting as anyone would. The only difference is, one of these friends is having a mental health crisis but doesn’t know how to tell anyone. She wants her friend to notice the uneasiness and ask her if she’s okay, but her friend pulls out her phone at any awkward silence. This makes it hard to notice anything going on in front of her. The mental health crisis friend feels lonely for this reason because her only support system isn’t paying attention to her. She expresses her frustration through actions, eventually gaining courage to confront her friend about everything. Phones can sometimes be a barrier to greater connection, and so this barrier was dissolved through speaking up and calling to action.
