This film is about cultural disconnect, family, and mental health. In Cuba, families were torn apart because of the ongoing migrations to flee the country in search of a better life. Families who could not afford to leave stayed behind. After the Mariel boatlift, no one could re-enter the country or visit. Many Cubans were scattered, oftentimes far from their community and their home.
