How Was Your Day Mom?

by

When you check in on someone, you’re letting them know that they’re not alone, that someone cares about them, and that there’s always someone they can turn to for support. If you check in often it makes it easier to open up to someone when you’re going through tough times. I hadn’t thought about the steps we learned in our workshop:
1. Ask how they’re doing,
2. Non-judgmental lean in no interruptions listening to what they have to say,
3. Offer your support if they need it.
Sometimes folks want to give advice or tell their story vs listen to what their friend has to or needs to say. Or we start asking questions vs just listening.
It doesn’t take much effort, but it can mean the world to someone who’s going through a tough time.

In the end, checking up on each other is all about building connections and showing compassion.
My moms are always there for me. I’m practicing stepping up to be there for them.
