The Mental Health Thrival Kit is a youth-centered wellness resource developed by Youth Creating Change to celebrate mental health, promote positive coping skills, and encourage help-seeking behaviors. Designed with easy-to-follow activities that support social-emotional learning, the digital kit includes journaling prompts for reflection and self-expression, breathing and grounding techniques, coloring pages, and culturally responsive mental health and crisis resources. Kits are currently available in English, Spanish, and culturally adapted versions for Korean-American and Filipino-American youth—developed in partnership with local artists, youth leaders, Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA), the K.W. Lee Center for Leadership, and Giovanni Ortega.
The physical kit is a single-bound journal that includes a detachable journaling bookmark and decal sheets.

“I frequently have students using my office as a safe space to take a break and check-in about what is on their mind. Many need to sit and be still for a bit and the Thrival Kits give them space to doodle and read through the breathing and grounding exercises. I also used the booklets following risk assessments as it was a quick way to give out the Crisis Line numbers and to have students write down their safety plans on the journal pages! The quality made students feel like they’d been given a gift, rather than a left-over freebie.”

“Our entire counseling team uses them as we meet individually with students who are learning about coping strategies. The kits are really valuable to us because as we discuss healthy coping skills, students can take these home with them to apply what we talked about. We love that the resources are in them for additional support. I have had students return to my office asking for a kit for their friends.”

“I am currently working with teen who is in foster care. This teen has experienced significant trauma in their life. In speaking with their assigned clinician, I asked if it was okay to provide the teen with the Mental Health Thrival Kit and the clinical gave their approval after reviewing its contents. The kit offers the teen the opportunity to truly identify emotions and express how those emotions make them feel. It has been an awesome tool, and I am hopeful to obtain additional kits soon.”
