Sweet Tooth

by

“Sweet Tooth” starts with a happy montage of our main character, Chelles. Chelles is a high school student frustrated with her own abilities and skillset. Later, she is shown in her bedroom, struggling with her schoolwork and the weight of her expectations. She throws a crumpled piece of paper onto her shelf, where a bowl of candy sits, meant to symbolize substances. It’s clear that Chelles overindulges in the candy. The effects of substance abuse become evident in the following scenes: one shows her on the floor, and another shows her with the group of school friends from the opening montage. Her friend snaps her out of the daze she’s in and eventually reaches out to her through messages and calls, which Chelles answers.
