This Is An Emergency is about the Warning Signs you should know that reveal the 2nd leading cause of death in teens. I don’t think enough teens, adults, and pre-teens know the warning signs. This information should be made available to everyone via school and community PSAs, social media, billboards, school and church websites, in our curriculum, peer mental health leaders, and to our general population. We have to really work hard at opening up our communication lines with people in our lives from simple check-ins, “How are you doing?” To really asking the hard questions, “Are you having suicidal thoughts?” We have to really be there for one another too. We have to get past the stigma of not talking about it to taking action.
Let someone know if you are struggling. Let someone know you need help. You don’t have to go through things alone. There are resources, friends, parents, and professionals that can help you. There is nothing like being connected to others that care about you no matter what you’re going through.
