Before I met Ms. Clarissa, I was worried she would be evil!
That her homework load would be medieval
But as soon as I met her, I changed my mind
Because Ms. Clarissa is really kind
She taught me the magic of helping others
Because the whole world should be my sisters and brothers
So begins “What I Learned,” a poem-film about our hero-teacher Ms. Clarissa, who taught my little brother and I the magic of helping others who appreciate you as a road to a meaningful life, how to move people’s hearts to change their minds, to leap over seemingly impossible walls, to express our hearts through poetry, to learn superpowers we never before believed possible for us to wield, to make things that matter, and to create magic out of air. We have found that learning how to make and share beautiful and useful things for others is the road to better mental health.
