A Day In That Life

by

Our submission portrays an imaginative “day in the life” or an individual experiencing serious mental health concerns. From hiding the truth of his emotions from his mom to sensing intentional exclusion from his “friends,” the audience is immersed in the first person perspective filled with tension, stress, and depressive moods. Though short, lasting only about a minute, this PSA aims to depict how seemingly casual events may leave significant emotional impacts on those struggling with suicidal thoughts. Ending the short film, the perspective shifts from the first person to third person, magnifying the hopelessness in the protagonists eyes; however, the PSA does not end here. The message “you are not alone” is the central focus, encouraging those with suicidal thoughts that seeking help, such as through the suicide prevention hotline, is hopeful and can provide the support or resources needed.
