Our film conveys the struggles of expressing your emotions in a Vietnamese household, where emotions are typically revealed through actions and not words. The action of cutting fruit as a Vietnamese parent is an unspoken apology to communicate their love and care. We focus on the relationship between a mother and daughter, their arguments shifting from childhood conflicts to deeper arguments fueled by teenage anxiety about the future. The representation of rotting fruit reveals the mental health of the daughter slowly declining as she continues to grow up, realizing her broken relationship with her mother and her struggles in navigating life as she attempts to leave her worries at the door.
